7,000 STRANDED PASSENGERS. ONE SMALL TOWN. A REMARKABLE TRUE STORY
Amidst the September 11th terrorist attacks in 2001, the US closed its airspace, grounding thousands of passenger jets heading in, out, and throughout North America. 38 planes carrying nearly 7,000 passengers were diverted to land in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland in Canada – which had a population of just over 9,000 people. The arrival of the passengers boosted those numbers to nearly 20,000.
During one of humanity’s darkest times, this true story captures the spirit of kindness, resilience and human connection between the locals and the “come from aways” (the name Newfoundlanders use for visitors) in the days that followed.
Through a blend of storytelling and folk-rock music, this musical will take you on an uplifting and emotional journey as you meet the characters and learn about their stories. It is a show that’ll make you laugh and cry and will stay with you long after the final bow!
An amateur production presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International. All authorised performance materials are also supplied by MTI - www.mtishows.co.uk
